Flaky white scales in the bottom of your kettle? Then the water softening dispenser is for you (imagine what's in your pipes where you can't see)!
Scale formation in water systems is normally the result of soluble calcium bicarbonate breaking down to the practically insoluble substance, calcium carbonate - and this reaction accelerates at higher temperatures. Hence the flaky scales in kettles. Larger household systems are also affected by scaling and corrosion - examples are solar systems, gas boilers and even automatic ice-makers.
Hotels and restaurants have a particular need to treat their water if they want to ensure that their equipment does not accumulate lime-scale or suffer from corrosion, thereby increasing the life of the equipment.
Lime scale is an indication of high calcium content in water.
Natural Caribbean water is high in calcium, containing more than a quarter of a kilo of it per 1,000 liters! An average household consumes around 120 liters/day/person, so it doesn't take long before some of this starts to cause problems, by gradually choking pipe work, especially where water is heated!

The water softening crystal is a specially formulated scale-inhibiting product that provides a solution to both scaling and corrosion. Specific proportions of sodium phosphates and calcium salts are combined at high temperature; the resulting molten product is cooled and then shattered into glasslike chips. These are then added to a dispenser, which is attached to the mains water pipe.
To ensure the safety of water softehing glassy phosphates for use with potable water, the ingredients used are of a very high quality and meet food standards (just like the phosphoric acids used in all Cola drinks).

The dissolved water softener helps to prevent the crystallization of calcium carbonate in water (up to around 65°C). The water softener has been designed to dissolve very slowly into the water passing through the dispenser.
The water softening dispenser is installed in an accessible mains water inlet. Installation is easy and instructions are provided.
To accommodate both domestic and industrial uses, water softening Dispensers are available in many different sizes and can accommodate connections from ½" and upwards.
